Welcome to the PMC Chatham-Brewster Kids Ride!

The Chatham-Brewster PMC kids ride will be entirely on the Old Colony Rail Trail and the Cape Cod Rail Trail, and travels through the towns of Chatham, Harwich, and Brewster, ending at Nickerson State Park in Brewster. The entire round trip is approximately 26 miles. There will be one water stop at Headwaters Road in Harwich. Lunch will be served at Nickerson State Park before the return trip. A PDF map of the bike trails is located at http://www.mass.gov/dcr/parks/trails/print/ccrt.pdf. The ride start is at the lower right of the map at Crowell Rd. in Chatham. The OCRT goes west until it joins the CCRT at the Harwich Bike Rotary, and proceeds north to Nickerson State Park.

Riders in 6th grade or below will be assigned to a group with an adult rider, and must stay with that group. Depending on conditions, older riders may also be assigned to groups. Any older rider who prefers to ride with an adult rider will be assigned to a group.

Snacks and a raffle will be held at Chatham Middle/High School at the conclusion of the ride.

Check-in will begin at 8 a.m. at the Chatham Middle School and the ride will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Online registration is greatly preferred. $10 to register, $20 or more funfraising.

Therewill also be an elementary and younger ride in the parking lot of the school from 11 a.m. to noon. You can contact Pam Miller for more information at MillersCP@aol.com.

The Chatham Kids Ride invites middle schoolers from throughout the lower cape to join them for a 26 mile trek on the rail trail. Cyclists will leave Chatham Middle School and ride the Cape Cod Rail Trail to Nickerson State Park for lunch, and back on June 7. The Chatham PMC Ride was started 4 years ago in honor of Rick Williams, a retired Phys. Ed. teacher and frequent volunteer at the middle school.  Mr. Williams passed away in September 2007 after battling brain cancer for two years.

Glenn McVickar, Chatham Middle School physical education teacher, and long-time PMC cyclist, started the ride seven years ago exclusively for his students as a fun way for them to become more active. The ride became a PMC Kids Ride in 2005. Chatham students have raised $6,168 for this worthy cause!
