This will be the fifth Cranberry Country PMC Kids Ride. While this year's ride is special because it is our fifth anniversary, it is also special for a much more important reason. This year's ride is dedicated to the memory of Chloe Harding. Chloe was a beautiful, spunky eight-year-old with a love for life and a big smile. She participated as a rider along with her brother Wyatt in our last three rides. For the past two years, Chloe was our single largest fundraiser with her brother Wyatt close behind. Each of the last three years, Chloe's mom Lindsay has shared her family's story and experiences with the Dana-Farber during our opening ceremonies. The Harding Family's story is one of love, joy, courage, inspiration, challenges and lastly the celebration of a precious little girl with an inner strength far beyond her size or years who touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
The greatest part of my involvement with the PMC is the many wonderful people I have gotten to know along the way. I have been so fortunate to know Chloe, Wyatt, Lindsay
Just like the adult PMC ride held the first weekend in August of each year, our Kids Ride will raise money for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI). And, just like the adult ride, 100% of all rider-raised donations will go straight to the Jimmy Fund and used to support cancer research, patient care and families of treated patients.
The Cranberry Country PMC Kids Ride is a way for children to become involved in philanthropy and community activities at an early age while learning the valuable lesson of how good it feels to do something that benefits others. At the same time, the ride promotes a healthy and active lifestyle.
We also want to celebrate the accomplishments of the kids that participate in the Kids Ride and teach them that they can have a great time doing something that helps others. So, we have a lot of fun activities planned for the day to include: a bouncy house, face painters, balloon makers, a large fire truck from the Middleboro Fire Department, deejay providing music, all sorts of fun games and activities plus a pizza party after the ride and ice cream sundaes.
Riders ages 2 to 16 can participate. We have three different route options to meet anyone's needs!
While there will be a time limit for the actual ride, there is no minimum or maximum distance. Riders are encouraged to ride for as long as they feel comfortable and are enjoying themselves.
The ride will take place rain or shine; only a thunderstorm will cause a cancellation.
Please make sure to bring a properly fitting helmet for each rider.
Parents will need to create an account or log in with an existing account in order to register their child or family. When creating an account, please enter the parent's information first as there will be a separate part in registration to enter the child's information. During registration there is the option to join or create a team, as well as create a family page. Parents will need to sign a waiver and commit to the $30 fundraising minimum per rider.
Once registration is complete, parents will receive an email with information on how to log into their management page to customize donation pages and to track donations.
The fundraising minimum for each rider is $30 and is due by September 1, 2019.
Riders who go above and beyond with their fundraising will be recognized Heavy Hitters or Breakaway Fundraisers and will receive a special gift in recognition of their fundraising efforts.
